Climbing and
Rappeling are very rewarding activities that create powerful opportunities
for growth in both individuals and groups. Our climbing programs are set
up for all abilities and we offer the Challenge by Choice concept which
allows participants to expand their abilities within a defined comfort
zone. We highlight the processes
of critical decision making, problem-solving, supporting others, and goal-setting. All participants
gain increased comfort with risk-taking, a heightened sense of self-confidence, and improved
communication skills.
Our most popular program is the Red Rock Wonder. The setting is spectacular and is accessible by a 15 minute hike. We have provided this program for Lufthansa Airlines, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Outward Bound Professional and many others. The location and activities are ideal for all ability. We begin each day by setting the goals and expectations of the group. We then warm up with a short hike to our climbing site. During our hike we stop to enjoy the red rock views, take pictures, and learn about the local plant and animal life. Once we arrive at our outdoor classroom we discuss safety and the importance of supporting each other throughout the day. We learn about the equipment and then move into the climbing and rappeling skill stations. Participants can set and pursue their goals with the support of their team. We have a variety of ways for participants to engage within a stated comfort level.
There are many metaphors in climbing that can transfer into individual and team
development. A few of the areas that we can highlight for your
groups are: Terra Trax and Safety Terra Trax is insured by the World Wide Outfitters and Guides Association. We use state of the art equipment and have a perfect safety record. Our staff has years of experience with years of medical and rescue accreditation. There is always at least one Emergency Medical Technician on every program. Our Climbing programs are designed and monitored by owner and head guide Glenn Slattery. Glenn has introduced climbing to over 1000 people. Currently, Glenn is a certified Emergency Medical Technician, Member and Rope Rescue instructor for the Sedona Fire Department, assistant instructor for Ropes that Rescue, and member of the Arizona Department of Public Safety Helicopter Rescue Team.
